Well, a more precise way to say that would be: "Voting Will No Longer Count!"

The widget will remain active and you can cast as many votes as you want, it's also a cool way to browse all the apps. We're still registering the votes and maybe in the future we'll post new results for fun, but for the purposes of this contest, the voting is officially closed!

Now it's time for us to crunch the numbers and we'll be back with an official announcement of winners on Thursday morning!

Voting for the TopCoder Community Favorite category is now open and will remain open until 4pm EDT on Tuesday July 29th. At that point, all the numbers will be crunched and our 9, $10,000 first prize winners, along with the 20, $500 second prize winners will be announced on August 1st.
We have built a battle-style voting widget for the occasion, which you can see below. It is pretty self-explanatory and should give you the opportunity to browse the applications and actually try them before you vote. While you don't have to try every app, we encourage you to try to make an informed decision when voting. There are links in the widget to get more information and/or download & use every submission.


The widget randomly matches up 2 of the 96 submissions at a time, and all you have to do is choose the one you like better by clicking the "VOTE" button under the submission you choose. Two more apps will load, and you repeat the process as many times as you like. Each time you vote for an app, it gets a "win" and its opponent gets a "lose". At the end of the week, the winners will be determined according to which have the highest winning percentage.

MINOR BUG ALERT:: There is a bug that will actually cast a vote if the user clicks on the headline above a particular submission. We are working on this and it should be fixed shortly. More information on each submission can be found by following the "Link to View or Download" link under the submissions.

The $100,000 Truveo Developer Challenge is coming to close with just one day remaining to submit your apps for consideration.

A reminder, the submission deadline is 2:00 p.m. EST on July 21, 2008.

Any passing submission we receive before the deadline will be eligible for prizes. You may continue to make updates and add features to your existing apps before and after the submission phase closes, but the most recent version of your submission as of the 2pm EST deadline will the one submitted for judging.

I need to bring up a very important point that will impact all of you of have used the name Truveo in your application.

When it comes time to review and rank your application, and finally award the $100,000 in prize money, you need to know that "THE NAME OF YOUR APPLICATION SHOULD NOT CONTAIN THE WORD TRUVEO BECAUSE THAT INDICATES INACCURATELY THAT TRUVEO ENDORSES YOUR APPLICATION. THIS IS IN VIOLATION OF THE LICENSE AND CONTEST RULES."

As mentioned in a previous blog post, attribution is one of the requirements when it comes to removing the daily query limit. For those of you who have used the name Truveo anywhere in your application, my recommendation would be to simply replace the name Truveo with our standard "Powered by Truveo" Logo as described here:
